About this calculator
The calculator also shows where you would end up with a full or a half score.
How to use it
- Enter your current grade.
- Enter the final exam’s weight.
- Enter your target overall grade.
The formula
Needed = (target − current × (1 − weight)) ÷ weight
- weight
- the final exam’s share of the overall grade
Worked example
Current 72%, final worth 40%, target 75%
- Needed = (75 − 72 × 0.6) ÷ 0.4 = 79.5%.
- A full score would give 83.2% overall.
What the result means
If the needed score is above 100%, the target is not reachable with this final.
Assumptions
- Grades are percentages.
Limitations
- Some courses have minimum marks in the final itself.
