Worked example
Four courses
- A (4 credits) = 16, B+ (3) = 9.9, A− (3) = 11.1, B (4) = 12.
- GPA = 49 ÷ 14 = 3.50.

Admissions offices may recalculate GPA from your transcript using their own rules or credential evaluation services.
Assumptions
- Standard 4.0 scale with plus and minus grades.
Limitations
- Converting Indian marks to a US GPA is not exact; follow the university’s instructions.
