About this calculator
For your current job, leave the last working day as today. The calculator also shows gaps between jobs and warns if two periods overlap.
How to use it
- Enter the joining and leaving dates of each job.
- Leave unused jobs blank.
- Read the total and the per-job table.
The formula
- Totals
- days carried at 30 to a month, months at 12 to a year
Worked example
One job from 4 July 2016 to 31 December 2020 and a current job from 11 January 2021
- First job: 4 years, 5 months and 28 days.
- Add the second job up to today for the total.
What the result means
Recruiters usually want experience in years and months; some online forms want a decimal such as 10.2.
Assumptions
- Both the first and the last day of each job are counted.
Limitations
- Internships, part-time work and notice periods count only if you enter them.
