The formula
Working days = days in the period − weekend days − holidays

- Saturday and Sunday, or Sunday only for a six-day week

Worked example
October 2026, Monday to Friday, with 1 holiday
- October 2026 has 31 days, 9 of them weekend days.
- 22 weekdays − 1 holiday = 21 working days.
What the result means
Holidays differ by state and employer, so enter the ones that apply to you.
Assumptions
- Both start and end dates are counted.
Limitations
- Holidays are not looked up automatically.
Frequently asked questions
How many working days are in a month?
Usually 20 to 23 for a five-day week, or 25 to 27 for a six-day week.
Does it include the start date?
