About this calculator

Enter your details and an honest activity level. Most people overestimate their activity; if unsure, choose one level lower.

How to use it

  2. Choose your activity level.
  3. Read maintenance calories and targets for losing or gaining.

The formula

TDEE = BMR × activity factor
BMR
from the Mifflin-St Jeor formula
activity factor
1.2 (little exercise) to 1.9 (very active)

Worked example

A 30-year-old man, 170 cm, 68 kg, moderately active

  1. BMR = 1,598 kcal.
