About this calculator

Enter two or more parts separated by colons.

How to use it

  1. Enter the ratio, such as 4:6 or 2:3:5.
  2. Optionally enter an amount to share.
  3. Read the simplest form and shares.

The formula

Simplest form = each part ÷ GCD of all parts; share = amount × part ÷ sum of parts
GCD
greatest common divisor

Worked example

Profit of ₹12,000 shared 12:18:30

  1. GCD of 12, 18 and 30 is 6, so the ratio is 2:3:5.
  2. Shares: ₹2,400, ₹3,600 and ₹6,000.

What the result means

Ratios with decimals are scaled to whole numbers first.

Assumptions

  • Non-negative parts.

Limitations
