- 6,000 + 1,000 + 800 + 150 + 40.
- Total = ₹7,990 in 32 notes.
What the result means
Shopkeepers and cashiers use a denomination sheet at day end to match cash in the till with the day’s sales.

- Whole numbers of notes and coins.
Limitations
- ₹2,000 notes can be counted but are not used when breaking up an amount, as they are no longer issued.

What denominations are in use in India?
Notes of ₹10, ₹20, ₹50, ₹100, ₹200 and ₹500, and coins of ₹1, ₹2, ₹5, ₹10 and ₹20.
Are ₹2,000 notes still valid?
They were withdrawn from circulation in 2023 but remain legal tender; they can be exchanged at RBI issue offices.
